how to get 30 reels edited while you sleep
the exact agent setup, the 3 things that broke, & the rules that fixed them.
hey friends,
yesterday i recorded 30 reels in under an hour(all on livestream)
112 different clips. lot of mistakes.
then i went to bed.
what the agents did
one agent watched all 112 clips & matched clips to the right script, based on what i said & the order i said it.
it found 9 retakes & deleted them.
then a team of Claude Code agents edited all 30 reels. captions on every word, real screenshots, logos & sound.
all the videos got 2 endings. on instagram the videos say “comment xyz for resource” on other platforms it says “check link in my bio”. since manychat only works on instagram & my past
then a separate agent QA'd every file. it didn't edit anything. it only looked for problems.
it found 1 blocker & 11 things to fix. em dashes in a screenshot. text running off the edge of the screen.
that's enough reels for 2 a day for the next 2 weeks.
what went wrong
it wasn't clean. three things broke.
dead air. after the hook, there was a gap where i was reaching to stop the camera. i told the agents: no awkward silence. check every video.
so we built a gap gate. no pause longer than 0.25 seconds where two clips join, or 0.35 seconds anywhere else.
the first version used the transcript & missed real silences because Whisper folds pauses into words. the second version listens to the voice track itself.
it failed one reel by 0.01 seconds. good.
the cut to the ending. on the first “link in bio” version, you could see me jump from one take to another. it felt like two videos glued together.
the fix: hide the cut under a full-screen card. the graphic covers the join, the audio crossfades, & it plays like one video.
agents breaking each other's work. i had agents editing in parallel on one laptop. one deleted a shared folder another was still using. another crashed mid-render & wrote over a reel that was already finished.
so now there are machine hygiene rules: only stop what you started. never delete anything outside your own folder. render to a temp file & only swap it in once it passes the check.
the lesson
i'm not an editor.
my job was the part only i can do: sit down, talk to the camera & have the ideas.
everything after that was grind. matching, cutting, captions, checking.
& the most useful agent wasn't the one that edited. it was the one that checked. the builder always thinks its work is done.
what you can steal
batch the human part. block one sitting for the thing only you can do, then hand off the rest.
give the grind to agents, with written rules. every mistake becomes a rule they read next time.
keep QA separate from the builder. a second agent that only looks for problems catches what the first one can't see.
the editing skill is free in my GitHub repo, with 49 other skills.
if you want the setup that runs all of this, my CLAUDE.md, 5 skills, memory & handoffs in one zip, grab the Claude Code Starter Kit for $9.
i appreciate you reading this.
