i sold my 2nd company. here's what i learned

hey friends,

it's been a minute. sorry about that.

here's a raw update.

i sold my second company

two exits before 22. hope younger me is proud.

i’m also entirely changing my business, but let me tell you some things i learned first.

what no one tells you about exits

the money is nice, but the real win is focus.

every business you run takes mental energy.

even the "passive" ones. selling means you can go all in on what matters

the biggest thing i learned from selling outbrand is that automating your business is the most powerful thing you can do.

it makes you more money while you run it & makes your company worth more when you sell it. that's a rare double win.

just keep building

so, what am i going all in on?

i stopped building saas.

not because it doesn't work. it does. consider me proof of that.

but when i was building my saas portfolio i realized something.

automating businesses is a superpower. the more you automate, the more you can scale & the juicier multiples you get when you sell.

3-minute hack to automate your business

open your notes app. write down every task your team did this week that follows a pattern. circle the ones that don't need human judgment.

those are your automation targets.

now pick the most expensive one. not the most annoying. the one costing you the most money every month.

write out the steps like you're training a new hire. "when X happens, do Y. if Z, do W." plain english.

paste that into Claude. say "build me a system that handles this." you’ll be surprised how fast you have a working version.

run it alongside your current process for a week. give it feedback & optimize. then move onto the next automation.
