sometimes the answer isn't AI...

stop forcing AI, focus on the problem

hey friends,

i’m back in Chiang Mai, writing this at 2am 🙂

i was thinking how big of an AI bubble we’re in. people forcing AI for everything, skipping over what really matters. over engineering to the max

at Cyndra AI, we've helped 50+ companies develop an AI strategy.

how do you add AI into your business when the space shifts daily?

sometimes, the answer is knowing when not to use AI at all.

sometimes the best solution is a 50-line Python script.

crazy that it took AI for people to realize how amazing Python is 🙃

the rule is simple:

don't start with the model. start with the problem

the problem with “AI-first”

AI made businesses realize how much repetitive work could be automated.

that's a good thing.

but now every automation wants to be called an “AI agent.”

so companies end up with systems that cost more, break more & solve less.

the decision ladder

how do you pick the right solution?

1. fix the process

if the team can't explain how the work should happen, AI won't save it.

remove the unnecessary steps first.

2. automate the rule

if the task has a clear right answer, use normal code.

we used deterministic scripts for deduplication, validation & scoring checks because those jobs don't need creativity.

3. use AI for judgment

AI becomes useful when the work involves messy documents, incomplete context or tradeoffs.

that's where we used it for research, synthesis & account-level reasoning.

4. preserve human approval

some actions should never happen automatically.

final account selection, claims & outreach stayed behind a human review gate.

judgment & accountability still matter.

use this before your next AI project

ask five questions:

  1. what exact problem are we solving?

  2. why does the task exist?

  3. where is the real bottleneck?

  4. what is the simplest reliable solution?

  5. what still needs human judgment?

sometimes the answer is an AI agent.

sometimes it's automation.

sometimes it's a spreadsheet.

the goal isn't to sell more AI.

it's to solve the problem.

that's the standard we're building Cyndra around.

ways to get involved

want weekly calls with me where we break down real workflows & build AI employees together?

want my team at Cyndra to give your company a free, in-depth AI audit?

book a call here & we'll identify what can be safely automated, what should stay human & where you should start.

no pitch. just value.

i appreciate you reading this.

i want this newsletter to be the most useful thing in your inbox.

if something resonated or you have questions, just reply. i read & respond to every email.

i’m rooting for you & hope the best.
